The unprecedented demands placed on leaders today given the highly ambiguous, disruptive and unpredictable nature of the world in which they and their organizations must navigate require leadership development highly attuned to these times, which is dramatically different than 20 years ago. It requires going well beyond simply knowing more or being more technically clever or prescient.
Our times call for leaders to develop their capacity for emotional and psychological flexibility. This means deep engagement of the whole person in the context of who they are at that moment and what they aspire to be – existentially as individuals, as leaders, as social beings, and as humans on the planet. This means developing leaders with emotional and psychological depth, range and resiliency — as well as the skills to lead with curiosity, care, higher purpose, and cross-boundary impact in today’s global, hypermediated and hyperconnected world.
